One of Lucia & Co.'s passions is educating the small business community. Small business owners go into business for themselves because they are good at something. In general, that "something" is not bookkeeping and accounting. As time goes on, they realize just how important this piece of the puzzle really is. It is for this reason that Lucia & Co. gives back to the community by offering free or low cost instruction at workshops held by the Inland Empire's Women's Business Center, located right here in San Bernardino.

QuickBooks Training
Get hands on training at a very low cost. You will receive up to twelve hours of training covering all the basics you need to get a good start using QuickBooks. See our QuickBooks service page for more information on our QuickBooks customized training.
Understanding Your Financial Statements
This three hour workshop is designed to educate readers of financial statements the very basics on their format and provides tips on how to review financials for basic accuracy. We answer such questions as:
- What is the difference between a balance sheet and profit/loss?
- What are assets and liabilities and when are they current or non-current?
- What are the pros and cons of cash or accrual basis and what is the difference?
- How can I use the information to more effectively manage my business?
Benefits to Small Business Owner
Accurate financial statements are key to obtaining financing for your business and ultimately selling your business at a profit. The majority of small business owners understand very little about the content of their financials and they pay for preparation of this key financial document only to file it away without ever looking at it, let alone, understanding it.
Benefits for the Lender, Business Broker or Other User
Bankers and business brokers have utilized this workshop to better prepare themselves to read their client's financial statements. Customer service is improved as you are able to better assist clients in obtaining financing or selling their business, by identifying areas for improvement and assuring the accuracy of a financial starement before submitting it to underwriters or potential buyers.

Improving Your Cash Flow
This course is meant to provide basic tips on how to get more cash where it belongs- in your bank account! We cover the importance of setting up a system to know where your cash is going. You will be educated on inventory, accounts receivable and accounts payable management and the use of OPM (other people's money). We also cover tips and tricks of growing your business to ultimately increase your cash flow.
